You know you're Chilean when...
* Your speech is filled with words like: "cachai", "weon", "carrete", "filo", "po", "fome", and "bakan". i don't use bad words in general so there are many that not apply to me Like weon, conchatumadre,etc.
* You know what "flaite" is and how to spot and imitate them.
* You're ALWAYS late. I was 10 minutes late once, and actually proud of myself because yes, here, 10 minutes late is actually fairly early. in here if you say meet up at 8, it is means meet up to 8:30 For realsies.
* You think Argentinian are a little vain and full of themselves. But you don't meet any of them.
* You are mistreated by Bolivians or Peruvians, but they want to live in Chile anyway. And you don't understand why in both options.
* You'd probably die without bread. For serious.
* You've seen the large group of people fighting for the fresh bread as it comes out of the ovens in the supermarket. in here bread is a important part of any meal.
* You've been part of that group of people.
* You can recognize "gringos" a mile away....but no longer include yourself as one of them.
* You demand things, don't ask. Such as food. You will take food from someone while "asking" them to borrow you it.
* Every desert you eat includes milk caramel. I love Milk caramel in desserts!
* You drink "pap" or "kapo"
* You drink tea every day at 5 o'clock but, Coffee in any other occasion i really prefer tea in any occasion but everybody else goes with this one
* People going out a lot is normal. People who don't go out a lot is kind of....strange.
* You are overly honest/blunt with people.
* Most things you eat come with mayonnaise. Or avocado.
* It's strange for anyone who is at least 11 years old to not have a cell phone.
* You know that "colo-colo" is a soccer team. shamefully i know this because half of the evening news are about soccer! *sigh*
* You know the chants for every one of the soccer teams.
* Seeing a house without a fence around it is utterly shocking. Even more so if it has non defenses
* Everything you eat either has salt or lemon on it. Everything.
* You eat ice cream very often, even when it's cold, and know that you can find somewhere that sells ice cream every corner or so.
* You have a favorite brand of pisco.(Chilean kind of spirit)
* You can dance the cueca(the traditional dance). but you only do it twice a year.
* Not seeing mountains is a cause for concern.
* You can tell that someone's NOT from Chile because they speak slower and clearly(they're easier to understand)
* You've watched every soccer world cup, but know that Chile only qualifies every 20 years or so
* You know who Yayita, Cone and Comegato are. yep they are characters from a comic who is in circulations since the 50's
* Every celebration calls for a barbecue (with beef meat); or without any and only alcohol i being present at the ones with beef or chicken involve, but i know the other exists
* If you are from Santiago, you had bronchitis every winter as a child.
* You're still trying to find a place that serves Fanshop outside Chile.
* You know that nothing beats an "Italiano" for a hot-dog. yep, is a hot dog with tomatoes, avocado and mayonnaise
* You know what Pablo Neruda's voice sounds like, and it isn't sexy.You want to sleep in deed
* You've witnessed or participated in way too many discussions about the military tyrant govern(70's and 80's) this or what animated series is your favourite
* Someone in your family is a Pinochetista, but someone in your family was for the UP as well.
* You miss playing bingo in Tur-bus
* In your family there was a fight in some point over whether to watch the soup opera from channel 7 or channel 13 in the national tv. when i was a child once
* You know that "Sabado Gigante" started in Chile.
* You know "Don Francisco's" real name.
* You know what "hallullas" and "marraquetas" are. there are types of bread
* You know what "Bilz" y "Pap" are, but you don't drink them (they taste like cough medicine!)
* Finally, chileans are chileans from the bottom of their heart, even if they complain about Health system, education, the government, Michelle Bachelet, the cops, the miltary, the pedophilean priests, the smog, social inequality, their bosses, the buses, the oil, AFPs...BUT HE'S A FUCKIN CHILEAN !!!! yep either way we love to live in here for some unfathomably reason?
